Wicked Wednesday Highlight: Tara Thorbin
Welcome to “Wicked Wednesday,” where Wicked Sports highlights a softball player swinging our bats. This week, we are excited to highlight Tara Thorbin with AZ Desert Belles Women's Softball, who shared her experience and feedback after swinging the bat.
“I’m not what you would call about a bat connoisseur. If I’m being honest, I really don’t know the difference between a one piece or a two piece. I just know balanced and end-loaded, and I had been messing around with different weights on Saturday.

“I tend to bounce back-and-forth based on my swing from a lighter bat to a heavier bat. Prior to this my coach Mike Manhollan, said ‘Hey try the 25. With the way that you swing you can go right side and that might be the better one for you.’
“The first pitch out was perfect and I went after it. Not only was it straight down the first base line, it was probably one of my best right side hits ever. It felt so good and so flawless.
“Saturday the Belles were smoking it with these bats. Three or more HRs and I had another one on Sunday that split the middle, and one hopped the fence—and it felt amazing. Unfortunately, it wasn’t an in the park HR because I scored the fifth run before I got to first base.
“I’ve been playing this game since 1978, and that hit down the first base line will go down as one of my favorites moments on the field.”
